DataWind intensified the budget tablet segment with the launch of Aakash 4 PC tablet in the Indian market. Well known by the lowest price tablets, Aakash series of tablets fulfilled the technology requirements of middle class people who can not afford to buy any higt-tech gadget before.

 British manufacturing and marketing company together with India's Ministry for Human Resource Development (MHRD) launched cheapest tablet computer, Aakash with the aim to provide low cost tablet to every student under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology.

Despite its rather unsuccessful run in the country, the Aakash tablet continues to excite tech enthusiasts. Compared to its predecessors, Aakash 4 PC Tablet saw changes in the hardware side of things, which enable it to dual-boot Android and Linux (through a microSD card).
